About

Laura received her Master of Science in Clinical Psychology from Georgia College and State University in 1996. Since that time, she has had the opportunity to work as a psycho-pharmaceutical research coordinator with Mercer University’s School of Medicine; a Unit Director and Therapist with the Methodist Home for Children and Youth; and an Outpatient Therapist at the Coliseum Center for Behavioral Health. These opportunities have afforded Laura valuable experience in the assessment and care of children, adults, couples and families in both group and individual settings.

Through her 13 years of work in our local hospital setting, Laura has developed a good working relationship with many psychiatrists in the area and is familiar with the medications and other treatments they may prescribe.

Laura’s treatment philosophy is largely rooted in the many facets of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). She employs a variety of meditative and mindfulness techniques for coping and takes an active and direct approach to patient care. She is experienced in the treatment of Mood Disorders, General Anxiety and Panic, Substance Dependence and Codependence, and Relationship/Parenting Issues.

Laura specializes in the treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). She provides specific, evidence-based treatment for complex and discrete trauma in the form of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). Laura works with each client to find their best path to recovery.

Laura is a member of Ingleside Baptist Church, The National Charity League of Macon, and the Licensed Professional Counselor’s Association of Georgia. She and her husband have two beautiful daughters in college, and a variety of pets at home.
